FabLab Junior by UbMaker
Eight workshops for ages 5 to 17: a drawing the fairy turns into 3D, virtual modelling clay, stickers, a key ring, a bridge, a drawing robot, an AI detective game and a mini-business. On a tablet, computer or phone, at home, in class or at camp. The app is in French.
Eight workshops
Every workshop follows the same five steps: understand, imagine, create, test, present.
Magic drawing (5-8)
The child draws with a finger, then the fairy transforms the drawing and turns it into a 3D object.
Modelling clay (5-9)
Place, pinch, stretch and smooth virtual clay, with ready-made models.
My stickers (6-12)
An image ready to print and cut, with a white border and a file for cutting machines.
3D key ring (8-12)
A sturdy key ring in real millimetres: shape, first name, picture, ready for the 3D printer.
Light bridge challenge (9-13)
Build a stick bridge, load-test it on screen, find the weak link, then print the joints.
Drawing robot (10-15)
Program a robot with blocks and watch it draw in 3D. The code can also be read in Python and Arduino.
AI detective (10-17)
Spot a chatbot’s fake facts and fake sources, then sign a charter for using AI well.
Mini-business (12-17)
Invent a product, survey real customers, set a price and pitch it.
How it works
- 01
Open the app
Go to ubmaker.com/fablabjunior. The “Install the app” button adds it to the home screen of a tablet or computer.
- 02
The child types a first name
That is all. The child has no account and no email. Creations stay on the device.
- 03
They create
Fairy magic only goes to an AI service if an adult has turned it on, and never with the first name.
- 04
They leave with their object
A file for the 3D printer, a sticker, a poster or a certificate to print.

Questions
How do I subscribe?
In the app, an adult opens 🔒 Animateur, enters the PIN, then Réglages → Compte de l’appareil. There you create your UbMaker account and pick a plan. Payment goes through Stripe: we never see the card number.
What happens during the trial?
A card is required but nothing is charged for 14 days. You can cancel before the end from “Gérer mon abonnement”.
What if the month’s magics run out?
The workshops keep working with their on-device tools. An adult can add 100 magics for $9.99, valid for 12 months.
Do I need a 3D printer?
No. Creations are saved as images and 3D files (STL) that you can have printed elsewhere, or keep on screen.
What is the starting PIN?
2468. Change it in Réglages the first time you open the app: it stops the child from leaving kid mode.
What about schools?
UbSkilled runs the travelling FabLab in schools with FabLab Junior: ubskilled.com/ecoles-fablab-nomade. Teachers can also take the Classroom plan.
Three workshops are free, with no account.
