Safety
A replacement part is a mechanical promise. Where a failure could injure someone, that promise needs a certified process we do not offer — so we decline.
Each part and each rescue request carries one of five classifications. It determines whether the part can be produced at all, and what review it needs first.
Cosmetic or non-load-bearing part. Failure has no safety impact.
Mechanical function without safety implication (clips, latches, guides, knobs).
Load, heat or chemical exposure: material and design must be reviewed before release.
Safety-adjacent part. Not manufactured without certified process and validation.
Braking, steering, suspension, airbags, seat belts, structural vehicle parts, pressure vessels, mains electrical safety components, critical medical equipment. UbFixit refuses these.
These are refused regardless of who asks, what is offered, or how simple the geometry looks.
If a request matches one of these, it is stopped at intake and the reason is given. We would rather lose the order than ship a part that fails under load.
Between “fine” and “refused” sits a real category: parts that carry load, sit near heat or meet chemicals. Those are produced only after the material and geometry are reviewed against the failure mode. It takes longer and we say so.
If a part we shipped fails, or you believe something in the catalog should not be there, tell us and include the SKU and revision. Safety reports take priority over everything else in the queue.
